The NFL is fining Indianapolis Colts'offensive lineman Matt Goncalves for a touchdown celebration in the team's Week 2 game against Kansas City.
Following a touchdown reception by tight end Tyler Warren, he handed the ball to Goncalves, who appeared to pop the top on the football and chug it as if it were a beer.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL called the celebration an "offensive demonstration" and had this to say:
“Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration…in poor taste.”
On Friday, Goncalves responded to the fine when speaking with local reporters after practice.
“It’s disappointing," Goncalves said, via The Athletic's James Boyd. "What are you gonna do? We’re all celebrating out there, having a good time."
Goncalves added, "I’d like to think it’s an ice cold Coca-Cola.”

The league fined Goncalves $8,847. He will appeal the fine.
