As we continue to take a look back at theIndianapolis Colts' Week 4 performance against the Washington Commanders, let's highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.
For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren't many huge surprises, but each week, particularly early on, there are a few things we can glean.
With help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Colts' snap count totals from Week 4.
Heavy tight end usage with injuries at wide receiver
Alec Pierce is on IR, while Keenan Allen missed Sunday's game with a groin injury. Short-handed at the receiver position, the Colts leaned heavily on the tight ends. Tyler Warren, of course, had a big role, playing 56 offensive snaps, while Mo Alie-Cox played 31. Drew Ogletree was also on the field for 19 snaps. At receiver, Laquon
Treadwell and Josh Downs each played 50-plus snaps, while Ashton Dulin played 23.
No snaps for CJ Allen again
For the second game this season, Allen didn't see any defensive snaps. So far this season, he's played a total of 11 snaps on defense. At a position that has struggled, the Colts' second-round pick can't get on the field. Instead, Austin Ajiake was introduced to the linebacker rotation on Sunday.
Darius Slayton is still not available
Joining a team on the fly with the season already unfolding, understandably, a ramp-up period is likely required. So when Slayton missed last week's game against Houston, that wasn't unexpected. But not being available this week was more of a surprise, especially considering how desperate this offense is for a vertical presence. Finding ways to get Slayton on the field, even for a few plays, could help.
