Similar to Sauce Gardner, when Anthony Richardson found out that the Indianapolis Colts were trading Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, the news hurt.
"Definitely surprising for sure, not doubt," Richardson said, via Jake Arthur of Roundtable Sports. "Just thinking about those guys being, like so station and being pillars of this organization. Two captains, two leaders, just two great guys leading this team. It definitely hurt and surprised me a little bit, but I hope the best for them, but you just gotta keep staying focused and keep working."

These two massive trades come as the Colts turn their focus to the future and begin
accumulating as much draft capital as possible to hopefully accelerate the upcoming rebuild.
For Nelson, Indianapolis received a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick. In return for Buckner, the Colts landed a 2027 fourth-round pick.
The assumption is that more deals will be made ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Josh Downs has requested a trade, while Keenan Allen and Grover Stewart will be free agents this offseason, like Buckner and Nelson.
That said, recent reports suggest that the team would like to keep Taylor around as part of the rebuild, although we will see if that is how things unfold in the coming weeks.
