More often than not, there always seems to be a roster cut that catches everyone off guard. For the 2026 Indianapolis Colts, who might those surprise roster cuts be?
Admittedly, with most roster spots accounted for, finding a true surprise move may not be easy.
That said, there are several relatively recent additions that GM Chris Ballard has made over the last two years who could end up on the outside looking in.
WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
One of a few free agent additions we will highlight here, but the addition of Keenan Allen may have squeezed Westbrook-Ikhine out of a roster spot. If we assume that one of Deion Burks, Anthony Gould, and Coleman Owen earns a roster spot as the return man/backup slot, that leaves one opening for Westbrook-Ikhine and Laquon Treadwell,
who has clearly been ahead on the depth chart all training camp.
DE Jaylahn Tuimoloau
Is Jaylahn Tuimoloau's job safe? Probably. I did have him on my final roster prediction. Is he an absolute lock? That I'm not so sure of. He failed to stand out during the preseason and played the fifth-most snaps in the finale, which is typically playing time reserved for those who are longshots to make the team.
DT Jerry Tillery, Derrick Nnadi
Two more offseason additions by Ballard that failed to make a steady impact this summer. Neither player gained much traction during the preseason. As a result, both were left off my roster prediction.
The contracts of Tillery, Nnadi, and Westbrook-Ikhine are all relatively easy for the Colts to get out of.
