With the Indianapolis Colts opening up the regular season against Baltimore later this week, head coach Shane Steichen provided another promising update on wide receiver Alec Pierce.
According to ESPN's Stephen Holder, Steichen says that Pierce is on track to play in the season opener.
Now, as Holder adds, whether that means Pierce is a full-go or on a snap count remains to be seen.
There wasn't really any doubt about this, but Colts coach Shane Steichen reiterates that WR Alec Pierce is right on track and will play in Sunday's opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

Pierce had been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list for nearly all of training camp, going through the rehab process following offseason ankle surgery.
After returning to practice
prior to the final preseason game, Pierce took part in 11-on-11 work for the first time last week.
Throughout the entire process, the Colts have remained optimistic that Pierce would be available for Week 1, and that's the direction he appears to be trending.
Having Pierce on the field will do wonders for the Colts' offense. Not only can he generate explosive plays as a downfield threat, but the attention he draws can open up opportunities for other pass catchers and even the run game.
