Although Jonathan Taylor is a potential trade candidate, the Indianapolis Colts continue to play him on Sundays.
Against Jacksonville last week, Taylor played 38 of the 61 offensive snaps, touching the ball 12 times. The expectation seems to be that his role will remain the same this week against Dallas.
ESPN's Bill Barnwellrecently argued that risking injury to Taylor, and therefore jeopardizing any potential trade, just isn't worth the risk.
Shane Steichen and the Colts, however, clearly view the situation differently.
"There's a lot of stuff out there right now," Steichen said on Wednesday, via ESPN. "He's on our football team and he's excited for this opportunity to go play. He wants to go win this game."
The latest report from Jordan Schultz
suggests that the Colts plan is to wait until after Sunday's game with the Cowboys to make any decisions, unless a big offer comes in.
Ian Rapoport addedthat the Colts are looking for a Christian McCaffrey-type deal, referencing when the Panthers acquired second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round picks from San Francisco in 2022.
Rapoport also mentioned again that the Colts don't feel like they have to move Taylor and are willing to build around him moving forward.
The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10.
