TheIndianapolis Colts are now 2-6 following a blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After looking back on Sunday's performance, let's highlight the studs and duds from the Colts' play -- although once again, there were more duds to take note of.
Stud: WR Keenan Allen
Allen provided a steady presence in the Colts' still-limited passing game. He caught all seven targets for 67 yards, leading the team in both categories.
Dud: Tackling from linebackers and safeties
Missed tackles have been a season-long issue for the Colts and continue to be. PFF credited the Colts with 10 missed tackles on Sunday, and seven of them belonged to Cam Bynum, AJ Haulcy, and Akeem Davis-Gaither, which led to some big plays for the Jaguars.
Stud: DE Caden Curry
Shane Steichen made sure to give Curry a shoutout post-game for his play, both on defense and
special teams. He had a QB pressure and was in on four defensive tackles, while also playing 20 special teams snaps.
Dud: The entire Colts team
As Steichen said, the Colts were out-coached and out-played, as the 42-7 final score indicates. The defense gave up way too many big plays, while the offense could barely move the ball. Daniel Jones again turned the ball over. This is what tearing things down in-season can look like.
Dud: Downfield passing game
We could put the downfield passing game in the dud category weekly. Without Alec Pierce, this element has been non-existent for the Colts offense, which has a major trickle-down effect to the rest of the offense. This makes moving the ball on the ground and on short-to-intermediate routes more difficult. Daniel Jones averaged 5.1 yards per pass attempt with no completions of at least 20 yards.
