The Indianapolis Colts placedAlec Pierce and CJ Allen on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) to begin training camp.
These players cannot practice until medically cleared to do so.
However, while it's important to note who is on the PUP list, it's also worth noting who isn't.
In this case, that would be defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.
Buckner appeared in only 10 games last season due to a neck injury. He then underwent surgery. As part of the rehab process, Buckner did not practice during OTAs or minicamp.
By not being on the PUP list, he is eligible to practice on Wednesday, although we will still wait and see if he has any restrictions. But nonetheless, this is good news for the Colts' starting defender.
Buckner continued to play at a high
level, ranking 24th among defensive tackles in pass rush win rate and 14th inPFF's run stop rate metric.
Buckner's versatility also allows Anarumo to move him around and throw different looks at opposing offenses, while the attention he draws helps create opportunities for his teammates.
