Following a third consecutive loss, the Indianapolis Colts are 2-5 on the season with the Nov. 10 trade deadline looming.
As you can imagine, in just about every one of the latest Week 8 power rankings, the Colts took another step backward.
Nate Davis, USA Today: 31 (-1)
"Think there might be a book out on QB Daniel Jones? He was blitzed on 85.2% of his dropbacks Sunday by Minnesota, most in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016) … and the results spoke for themselves."
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: 25 (-1)
"Is the fire sale coming? Will they start selling off assets? This season is done."
Conor Orr, SI.com: 26 (+2)
"Just like the schedule last year was a springboard for the Colts to believe far too much in their roster, the schedule this year is a weight dragging down a staff that will most likely lose most of its talented players in the coming
weeks. This firesale should be one for the ages."
Ralph Vacchiano, Fox Sports: 24 (-1)
"Let the fire sale begin! Everything must go — everything except for RB Jonathan Taylor, who remains the only good thing (and only watchable thing) about this team. Scoring 10 points and gaining just 218 yards against the powerful Vikings' defense isn’t embarrassing, but that’s their third straight loss, and they’re 2-5 now and it sure doesn’t seem like things are going to get better. They are heading toward an offseason of big changes. There’s no reason not to start making them now."
ESPN: 26 (-)
"The Colts had a quiet offseason when it came to outside acquisitions. They took a swing at landing edge rusher Trey Hendrickson but otherwise were not particularly aggressive in free agency. They also did not have a first-round draft choice. So, the contributions of McGowan stand out a bit more. He has provided nice depth behind star back Jonathan Taylor, and he has quickly become one of the top kickoff returners in the NFL. The seventh-round pick is averaging 28.3 yards per return, eighth most in the league this season."
Gary Davenport, Bleacher Report: 29 (-2)
"It has become clear that hot start was a mirage. The "win now" trade for cornerback Sauce Gardner last year and the extension handed to quarterback Daniel Jones were massive mistakes—mistakes that cost GM Chris Ballard his job. Now, the path forward appears to be starting over in 2027 and using veterans to stockpile draft capital."
Mike Florio, NBC Sports: 28 (-1)
"The trade deadline could get very interesting."
