Not long after being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner took to Instagram to post a good-bye message to Indianapolis Colts fans and the organization.
"Forever grateful to the Indianapolis Colts organization and the Irsay family for blessing me with the opportunity to wear the Horseshoe. These past 6 and a half years have been full of blessings. My family and I are proud to have called Indy our home! I've made some life lasting freindships inside the building and out in the community that I will always cherish. I'm sorry we couldn't get the job done, but just know that I poured my heart and soul into the organization and the community the best way I knew how to. God Bless! Love, 99."

The Colts acquired Buckner from the 49ers prior to the 2020 season. In his six-plus seasons with the team, Buckner made 90 starts while recording 47 sacks, 420 tackles, and six forced fumbles.
He was a two-time Pro Bowler in Indianapolis and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2020.
In return for Buckner, the Colts received a 2027 fourth-round draft pick.
