The addition of Darius Slayton to the Indianapolis Colts' wide receiver room adds speed to that unit in Alec Pierce's absence and also brings a familiar face in for Daniel Jones.
Both Jones and Slayton were part of the Giants' 2019 rookie class and were in New York together up until 2024. Slayton's two most productive seasons in the NFL came with Jones as his quarterback.
"Obviously played a lot of football with Darius," Jones said on Wednesday, via Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan. "He's a great player. I think he'll be great with the guys we got. We got a lot of really good players in that room. Guys who can make a lot of plays, so I think he'll be able to step in and help us out."

Adding Slayton to the mix can help give the Colts that vertical presence while without Pierce. For his career, he is averaging 15.0 yards per catch and has often been targeted on the intermediate to deep routes.
Opponents have to be mindful of Slayton's downfield abilities, which can not only lead to big plays, but can also help open up the Colts' passing game elsewhere.
"I think a guy outside who's got speed, been able to get behind guys and affect the defense that way. He's a good route runner, a guy who can separate in man-to-man coverage and win consistently outside. So like I said earlier, I got a lot of confidence in him. I've played a lot of football with him. Smart, tough football player."
Slayton, 29, has appeared in 106 games and made 78 starts. He's caught 296 passes, averaging 15.0 yards per catch with 22 touchdowns.
