After firing GM Chris Ballard, could theIndianapolis Colts be sellers at this year's NFL trade deadline?
At the moment, it doesn't sound like that's the plan. In a statement from owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon, she reiterated that even with the change at GM, the Colts' goals for this season remain the same.
That said, while turning things around and making a playoff push may be the hope, that doesn't mean that's how things will play out.
The Colts currently sit at 2-4 on the season and have upcoming matchups with 5-0 Minnesota and 4-2 Jacksonville.
In addition to that, this roster just doesn't look like one of a playoff contender.
So if things end up spiraling, perhaps it would be in the Colts' best interest long-term to start banking draft capital, especially
considering that they are still without their 2027 first-round pick as a result of the Sauce Gardner trade.
A few trade candidates include DeForest Buckner, Quenton Nelson, Grover Stewart, and Josh Downs -- all of whom are in the final year of their deals and could help a contending team.
Maybe some teams would be interested in Jonathan Taylor as well, even though he was just signed to a contract extension over the summer.
At this point, for the Colts, just about everything should be on the table, with more big changes potentially on the way as Indianapolis looks for a fresh start.
The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10.
