Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is finally back on the practice field, and he's taking advantage of the opportunity to work alongside one of the NFL’s most accomplished receivers.
The Colts removed Pierce from the active/PUP list on Thursday, clearing him to practice for the first time this summer following March ankle surgery.
After practice, Pierce discussed what it's been like to team up with six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen, whom Indianapolis signed Aug. 19.
“It’s super special,” Pierce said, via James Boyd of The Athletic. “Walkthrough, he’s throwing little moves out there and stuff. So, I think I’m kind of learning and you just always watch that and try to pick up stuff from his game, steal from his game a little bit.”

There are bundles of nuggets that Pierce can study about Allen, who joined Indianapolis with 1,055 career receptions for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns.
Allen's route-running ability has long been one of his calling cards, as Pierce brings a much different skill set to the Colts’ offense. The 26-year-old broke out for 47 catches, 1,003 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 while averaging an NFL-best 21.3 yards per reception for the second consecutive season.
Adding some of Allen’s veteran savvy to Pierce’s downfield ability could give the Colts a key wrinkle once Pierce is fully ramped up.
Indianapolis has more than two weeks before its Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, allowing Pierce time to work his way back with his first extended reps next to Allen.
