Entering the 2026 NFL season, what is the biggest strength of this year's Indianapolis Colts team?
ESPN's Stephen Holder, who covers the Colts, recently set out to answer that question. His selection was the Colts' skill players on offense.
Without question, Indianapolis is loaded with talent at the running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions.
"A lineup of receivers Alec Pierce, Josh Downs and Keenan Allen, tight end Tyler Warren and running back Jonathan Taylor presents numerous headaches for defensive coordinators," wrote Holder. "Coach Shane Steichen's ability to get multiple players involved should shine again as it did when Jones was healthy in 2025."
Pierce has been one of the best downfield targets in football the past two seasons,
and his role in 2026 is expected to expand. Downs and Allen are two very reliable targets who can impact the short to intermediate areas of the field.
Warren was among the most productive tight ends in football as a rookie, while Taylor continues to be a top performing running back.
Not to be overlooked either, as Holder mentions, but Steichen's ability to put together game plans and call plays can help elevate this group of players as well. Steichen was recently praised by his peers for his play-calling abilities.
Understandably so, there are questions around this Colts team entering the new season, but one can also see how this team can find success as well, especially on offense.
