After trading away Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, it would appear that Indianapolis Coltswide receiver Josh Downs is garnering interest from other teams as well.
NFL insider Jordan Schultzreported that "WR-needy teams have called the Colts" about Downs.
While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Adam Schefter mentioned Downs as a possible trade candidate.
Ian Rapoport posted on X that Downs has been the "subject of trade talks."
Unlike Nelson, Buckner, and Grover Stewart, Downs is still on his rookie deal, however, he finds himself in a contract year. And for a Colts team entering rebuild mode, accumulating draft capital rather than devoting additional cap space to the wide receiver position may be the priority at this time.
A third-round
pick by the Colts in 2023, Downs has been a reliable and productive target from the slot in the Indianapolis offense.
