For the second-straight week, the UCLA Bruins picked up some votes in Week 2 of the 2026-27 LBM Coaches Poll but did not earn enough votes to crack this week’s Top-25.
UCLA football overcame a slow start versus San Diego State on Saturday, pulling out a 28-10 win after the two teams were tied 0-0 at halftime. The Bruins will now begin Big Ten action this weekend with a 2-0 record, UCLA will go into Saturday’s game as favorites versus Purdue, setting up a potential 3-0 start for Bob Chesney’s tenure in Westwood.
For their efforts, UCLA picked up eight votes in the Coaches Poll, an increase from the four that the Bruins received last week. While UCLA remains off of the poll, there was plenty of movement within the poll, most notably being Ohio State
falling out of the No. 1 spot after the Buckeyes lost to Texas this past weekend.
Ohio State is no longer the highest-ranked Big Ten team, with the Indiana Hoosiers holding that claim as the No. 4 team in the nation behind Texas, Georgia and Notre Dame. Ohio State now finds themselves at No. 6, with Big Ten rivals USC at No. 11, Penn State at No. 15, Oregon at No. 18, Michigan at No. 19, Iowa at No. 20 and Washington at No. 24.
UCLA wasn’t the only other Big Ten team to receive votes, with the Nebraska Cornhuskers getting 18 votes this week. It’ll take time for the Bruins to crack the Coaches Poll under Chesney but a meeting with Oregon next month will likely give the team an opportunity to earn a Top-25 ranking.
