The UCLA football team welcomed San Diego State to the Rose Bowl on Saturday evening for the Bruins' home opener, which UCLA won 28-10 to remain unbeaten.
After the game, Bruins head coach Bob Chesney spoke to the media about the play of LB Jalen Woods. The senior linebacker starred for the UCLA defense, recording an interception, one sack and nine total tackles, with four by solo variety.
“I thought he played great," Chesney reflected Saturday. "You're going to go back and watch some of the film and just some of the fits in some of the blitz game were not perfect (but) when you're out there, we believe in you, you got to be able to do your job and we did have a couple of moments where we fell flat, but (Woods) was phenomenal. Yes, I think he played as hard
as he possibly can, but he'll have two or three plays too that he wishes he had back. That screen was everything at that moment that was a major factor in this game.”
UCLA (2-0) will be back at the Rose Bowl on Saturday at 8 p.m. to play Purdue (1-1) in Big Ten action.
