It’s a new Sunday but once again the UCLA Bruins are climbing up USA TODAY’s US LBM Coaches Poll, as the Bruins got bumped up to No. 4 after the team’s 34-20 win over Minnesota in Week 10.
UCLA got the bump after Miami (FL) got knocked down from the No. 1 position after losing to Notre Dame on Saturday. The new No. 1 is the Georgia Bulldogs who blew out Ole Miss this weekend. The Bruins also moved ahead of Indiana, as the Hoosiers dropped two spots over their bye week, making UCLA the highest-ranked Big Ten Conference school in this week’s poll.
That could wind up being important as the Big Ten Conference will certainly have at least two playoff teams this season. Usual suspects for those Big Ten playoff spots, Oregon and Ohio State, already have three
losses this season which will likely end any shot at a College Football Playoff spot. One more loss for USC and Indiana would go a long way for the Bruins, as the regular season finale versus the Trojans could loom large for both programs.
UCLA leads Big Ten teams at No. 4, with Indiana right behind them at No. 5. USC is ranked at No. 14, Iowa is at No. 15 with No. 19 Oregon and No. 20 Ohio State rounding out the Big Ten schools in this week’s poll.
Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois all received votes in the poll. UCLA just saw the Minnesota team and will next face Illinois, with the Bruins set to host the Week 11 showdown at the Rose Bowl Friday night.
UCLA’s remaining schedule:
Week 11: Home versus Illinois
Week 12: Road versus Michigan
Week 3: Home versus No. 14 USC
