Saturday’s Week 4 showing will be the fourth-ever meeting between the UCLA Bruins and the Maryland Terrapins on the football field. While Maryland will aim to even the series at 2-2, the Bruins will be looking for their first-ever win in College Park, Maryland.
UCLA has traveled to face Maryland just one time in history, with the Bruins heading to the East Coast in September of 1955, where the Terrapins protected their home field and snagged a 7-0 victory in a low-scoring affair. 71 years later, UCLA is back in Maryland, searching for a different result.
The Bruins have beaten Maryland twice in California. First doing so in 1954 and then again last year in a Big Ten Conference matchup, where UCLA snagged a 20-17 win. The two programs will have Big Ten showdowns
in back-to-back years.
As bad as UCLA was in the Big Ten last year, Maryland was even worse. UCLA got all three of their wins in conference play, going 3-6, while the Terrapins struggled to a 1-8 conference record. The lone Big Ten win came against the lowly Wisconsin Badgers.
Maryland is starting off 2026 conference play on Saturday, after beginning their season with three-straight nonconference games. Even with the Bruins traveling across the United States for the game, UCLA is still road favorites, with DraftKings having the Bruins favored by 1.5 points as of Thursday afternoon.
