The UCLA Bruins are 6-0, making them the last unbeaten team in the Big Ten. It has been a sensational start to Bob Chesney's tenure, and he has done an excellent job parlaying that into success on the recruiting trail.
They did it again on Sunday, landing a commitment from 2028 four-star linebacker Kaiden Buchanan, according to Chad Simmons of Rivals. Buchanan, who is from Aberdeen, Mississippi, was in Westwood on Saturday for UCLA's 17-7 win over the Wisconsin Badgers. It was his second time visiting after they offered him a scholarship on June 13.
Buchanan is ranked as the No. 251 overall player and No. 23 linebacker in the Rivals industry ranking. The 6-foot, 215-pounder is also the No. 8 player from Mississippi.
He had a breakout season as a sophomore
at Tupelo High School, but has been even better as a junior. In eight games, he has 54 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups.
Buchanan is UCLA's first commitment in the 2028 recruiting cycle. The Bruins have 23 commits in the 2027 recruiting cycle, Chesney's first full recruiting class as their head coach. The group is ranked as the 17th-best in the country and 5th-best in the Big Ten by Rivals.
