What a return to Los Angeles it was for former UCLA Bruin Garrett Mitchell. The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder returned to Los Angeles to secure the National League pennant in a 4-0 sweep over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Not only did Mitchell homer in Game Four series-clincher, he homered in game three, leaving the ballpark in both of his National League Championship Series games at Dodger Stadium.
Over the two games in Los Angeles, Mitchell went 2-7 and a walk but both of his hits were home runs. Mitchell’s home run on Thursday was a go-ahead shot of left-hander Tanner Scott. From there, the Brewers never let up, holding onto the lead and eventually ending the series with a 6-4 win.

On Wednesday, Mitchell hit the second-straight home run off of Blake Snell, going back-to-back with NLCS MVP Jake Bauers. Mitchell went to Orange Lutheran High School so it’s no surprise that he looked right at home in the box in Southern California.

2026 has been the best season of Mitchell’s career, playing 145 games for the NL Champion Brewers. Mitchell batted .262 with career-highs in home runs (11), stolen bases (14) and runs batted in (65).
The Brewers drafted Mitchell in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of UCLA. While with the Bruins, Mitchell posted a career .327 average with 28 stolen bases and only six home runs in three seasons with UCLA.
