Following the 17-7 win on Saturday for the UCLA Bruins, UCLA climbed to No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday. Chesney has led the Bruins to the perfect 6-0 record and now has the program ranked in the Top-10.
UCLA leaned on backup quarterback Ty Dieffenbach to get the job done against the Wisconsin Badgers
, with Dieffenbach throwing for 264 yards while the explosive Bruin rushing attack was largely muted. There’s an argument to be made that the No. 10 spot might be too low for UCLA. There’s just four teams above the Bruins that are still undefeated (Miami (FL), BYU, Texas Tech and Utah), with five one-loss teams ranking ahead of UCLA.
Not all of UCLA’s wins have come against elite competition but the team does have wins over Oregon, Wisconsin
and Cal. The Bruins are the last undefeated team left in the Big Ten Conference following Indiana’s loss, with both UCLA and Ohio State being the two teams to have not suffered a conference loss.
Miami moved into No. 1, BYU climbed to No. 3 and Texas Tech rose to No. 5 in this week’s shake-up. Notre Dame dropped down at No. 8 after their loss and Georgia fell to No. 4.
Ohio State is ranked at No. 2 following the win over the Hoosiers, while Indiana dropped down to No. 6. UCLA was the third-highest ranked Big Ten team, with No. 14 Iowa, No. 15 USC, No. 23 Northwestern and No. 25 Oregon sliding in behind UCLA.
Wisconsin received votes in this week’s poll, as did Nebraska and Michigan for the Big Ten Conference.
