Another week, another win for the UCLA Bruins. UCLA got a Big Ten Conference win over Purdue, holding on for a 52-38 win but the victory wasn’t enough to get the Bruins a spot on the 2026-27 US LBM Coaches Poll.
A week after receiving eight votes, UCLA got 18 votes this time around. The increased tally is a show of the growing confidence in Bob Chesney’s program nationwide. The Bruins have had to battle for all three of their wins this season but UCLA has gotten it done in different ways,
Last week UCLA’s defense led the way against San Diego State but this past weekend, Nico Iamaleava had his best game of the season all while Wayne Knight has put up Heisman Trophy candidate numbers through the first three weeks.
The highest-ranked Big Ten team
is the Indiana Hoosiers, who stayed put at No. 4. Ohio State is at No. 7 with USC at No. 12, Penn State at No. 14, Oregon at No. 16, Iowa at No. 17, Michigan at No. 18 and Washington earning the No. 23 ranking.
No. 12 USC was the only Big Ten team that dropped in the rankings, falling from No. 11. The top-five spots in the Coaches Poll did not change, the first action came at No. 6 where Ole Miss jumped up after knocking No. 11 LSU in Lane Kiffin’s return to Mississippi.
UCLA was one of three nonranked Big Ten teams to receive votes, along with Nebraska (11 votes) and Northwestern (four).
