One former UCLA Bruin made waves on social media by talking some trash about an NFL quarterback, with Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake poking some fun at Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
Lake isn’t the only one with critiques for Herbert. The former Pro Bowl quarterback is currently leading the league with 10 interceptions. Lake got one of those 10, picking off Herbert in last week’s 24-9 win over the Chargers.
After the game, Lake appeared on the St. Brown podcast and spoke about the Rams’ mindset heading into the game.
“I mean he was throwing deli meat out there,” Lake said of Herbert’s interceptions. “He was seeing ghosts, not going to lie. Bro I don’t know what’s going on but we knew we were going to get a couple.”

Deli meat is a play on the meatball sub term, which has become a synonym for a poorly thrown interception. It’s been a season filled with Herbert and the 0-7 Chargers who have been the league’s most disappointing team in 2026.
The pick was the fourth of Lake’s career but the third of this season, as he extended his career-best mark in the fifth season of his career. Lake was taken in the sixth round out of UCLA in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Lake spent five years in Westwood with the Bruins, being with the program from 2017-2021. Lake had six career picks with UCLA, including three in his senior season where he also made a career-best 54 tackles.
