The news about Troy Aikman and Joe Buck’s falling out has not gotten any better, with it being reported that the two had a heated argument before a Monday Night Football broadcast earlier this month.
Publication In Touch Weekly reported that Buck and Aikman’s altercation nearly turned physical after the argument surrounding Aikman and Buck’s contract status with ESPN. It’s been reported that Buck has already received a long-term extension from ESPN while Aikman is set to be a free agent after this season.
“It nearly got physical off air,” a source told In Touch exclusively. “They were very close from coming to blows.”
Aikman has been calling games with Buck for decades but that’ll end this season, with the two set to announce the Super Bowl at SoFi
Stadium in February of 2027.
“Joe signed his new deal and never said a word to Troy. Not one word,” the source said. “They’ve been partners for more than 20 years. In this business, when something like that is happening, the bosses and your partner sit you down and tell you. That’s standard practice. Nobody did that for Troy.”
Just in case the source’s quotes weren’t dramatic enough, the source says Buck’s actions have been amongst the biggest betrayals “in the industry.”
“People who’ve worked closely with both of them say they’ve never seen a betrayal like it,” the source added. “It’s the biggest betrayal anyone in the industry can remember.”
The former UCLA Bruin quarterback will surely land with another network but it appears as if Aikman's time with ESPN is dwindling.
