Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks announced earlier this week that former UCLA Bruin quarterback Dante Moore will miss the rest of the season due to the head injury that Moore suffered against USC last month.
The game against the Trojans could potentially be the last moment of Moore’s on-field college career. The Detroit, Michigan native was off to a terrific start to the 2026 season, throwing for nine touchdowns to no interceptions while throwing for 926 yards in less than four whole games.
Moore ended up playing three seasons with the Ducks after spending his freshman season with UCLA. The Bruins landed Moore as a five-star recruit but things never came to fruition for him in Westwood, establishing himself as a star with the Ducks.
Even with the
shortened 2026 season, Moore could still very well still get selected in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft, with the injury not figuring to impact Moore long-term.
"I think if it was up to Dante in any way, he would want to be out there playing for the guys," Lanning said earlier this week. "Unfortunately, it's not really up to Dante; it's not really up to me. We can control the setting at practice where he's able to do things for us, where that's not always the case in a game. We said before that this is a serious deal that he'll 100% make a full recovery from; that hasn't changed. But for him to be out there on the field for us right now, that's not gonna happen."
Moore’s injury kept him out of a potential revenge game against UCLA, with the Bruins heading to Autzen Stadium and leaving with a 17-15 win against Oregon’s backup quarterbacks.
