Another week and it’s another climb up the Associated Press College Football Poll for the UCLA Bruins. Following the 17-7 win over Wisconsin, UCLA moved up three spots to No. 9 in this week’s poll.
It’s amazing that UCLA is the No. 9 team in the country after being a complete joke just one year ago but that’s the magic of Bob Chesney
, who is establishing himself as a star head coach in year one with the Bruins.UCLA is the third-highest ranked Big Ten team, behind No. 3 Ohio State and No. 6 Indiana. The two teams faced each other on Saturday, with the Buckeyes getting a hard-fought road victory. Miami (FL) takes over as the new No. 1 team in the country after Georgia’s loss to Auburn dropped them to No. 5.
There are just three undefeated teams
ahead of UCLA in the poll, with Miami in the ACC at No. 1 and No. 2 BYU and No. 8 Texas Tech. BYU climbed six spots after defeating Notre Dame, with the Fighting Irish dropping down to No. 4.
After UCLA, there are just three other Big Ten schools ranked. Iowa comes in at No. 15, USC moves up to No. 16 and Northwestern is up to No. 24 with former UCLA coaches Jerry Neuheisel and Chip Kelly finding success with the Wildcats.
The only other Big Ten team to receive votes in Oregon, with Chesney’s former team, the James Madison Dukes, also receiving votes this week.
