The Week 8 availability reports for Saturday’s UCLA Bruins-Michigan State Spartans showdown were made available and the Bruins appear to be heading into the game with a better health situation than the 2-5 Spartans.
Michigan State has already ruled 11 players out for Saturday’s game at the Rose Bowl, with another six players listed as questionable. UCLA
isn’t in a great spot injury-wise either, with Nico Iamaleava set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.UCLA has ruled out seven players themselves, with the list including Iamaleava, wide receivers Mikey Matthews and Jonah Smith, offensive linemen Jordan Davis and Sam Yoon, defensive backs Tao Johnson and Rodrick Pleasant. The Bruins also have offensive lineman Eugene Brooks
listed as probable.

It’s been impressive how UCLA’s depth has made the most of their opportunities this season under Bob Chesney. The Bruins have used offensive line rotations throughout the season, have seen backup quarterback Ty Dieffenbach step up in a moment’s notice and new names step up and make big plays at wide receiver and in their secondary.
UCLA’s depth is why they’re 6-0 and are the No. 9 team in the country entering Saturday’s game. We’ll see how the Spartans handle potentially missing over a dozen players this week. Michigan State will enter the game having lost five games in a row.
Michigan State is still searching for their first Big Ten win this season, already having lost to Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois and Northwestern. The lone common opponent is Wisconsin, who UCLA defeated 17-7 while the Spartans fell 31-3 on the road in Madison.
