There were some major shakeouts on Monday for the UCLA Bruins after the report that quarterback Nico Iamaleava will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a leg injury.
Not only does the injury seriously put UCLA’s College Football Playoff chances in jeopardy, the team now has a giant question mark at the game’s most important position.
For much of the season it seemed as if Nico’s younger brother, Madden Iamaleava, was the team’s backup quarterback. On Saturday when Nico, was injured, Bob Chesney turned to Ty Dieffenbach.
Dieffenbach played the rest of the way for UCLA and showed some signs with his right arm. Dieffenbach went 3-6 for 42 yards with a passing touchdown. There was a chance at a second passing touchdown too. Dieffenbach’s first
throw as a Bruin was an accurate ball in the end zone to Brian Rowe Jr. but the wideout wasn’t able to bring it in for a touchdown.
With the Bruins potentially turning to Dieffenbach for the rest of the season, social media was stirring about the former Cal Poly quarterback.

A years old TikTok video of Dieffenbach hilariously dancing with JoJo Siwa. For those unfamiliar with JoJo Siwa, firstly kudos, secondly she’s a social media personality, who sings, dances and first found fame on Dance Moms.
The video is clearly years old, but it remains funny. It proves that Dieffenbach’s long locks are nothing new but perhaps the quarterback can recreate the dance as a touchdown celebration if he’s able to find the end zone.
