CAMDEN, N.J. -- Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James is joining a team that has a championship in mind. This is a franchise that hasn't had a ton of success in the playoffs in recent decades as they have not been past Round 2 since 2001, and has not won a title since 1983, but they have their eyes on getting to the mountaintop with the additions of James and Jaylen Brown.
A 4-time champion, James has accomplished everything a player can in his career in this league. The Sixers will be looking to him to set that championship example on a daily basis, and if there's one player he would love to help accomplish that, it's Joel Embiid.
"I am just looking forward to just obviously seeing what his process is as well," James said of Embiid. "Jo is one
of the most talented guys that we have in the world, and obviously, we all know that for him, it’s just been about health. So, how can he stay healthy to be the best version of himself? The best version of himself to be the best version of us as a team."
Embiid is a difference-maker. He is still one of the elite big men in this game and is somebody who can take a game over in the blink of an eye. Health has truly held him back, but at this point, he looks like he is ready to go and James is looking to help him get to that next level in the league and get him to that championship he and the Sixers crave so badly.
"I've seen him putting a lot of work on his body, putting a lot of work in his game, a lot of work on his mental this offseason," James continued. "So, that is a big upside, not only for us as his teammates, but I guarantee it is for him. I don't want to speak for him. Talk to him, but I guarantee that's a big good feeling for him."
James has, obviously, been there, done that in his career. The idea of him joining the Sixers and helping them grow is something that is on the mind of everybody and if the future Hall of Famer can bring his brilliance to the floor as a player and a leader, it will be a big difference.
"So, me as the elder statesman on the team has been through a lot of that," James finished. "Just give him resources and give him whatever he needs on a day-to-day basis to make him feel even more and more comfortable about where he is, about where we are as a team, both on the floor and off the floor. So, I'm definitely in his corner. I can't wait to be out there."
Training camp will start on Tuesday for this group as James, Embiid, and the Sixers look to begin getting things moving in the right direction before the season gets going on Oct. 20.
