In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 16 players, per Spotrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 14 under standard contracts and the two players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2026-27 season.
The new season begins on Oct. 20, and training camp is right around the corner. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.
Up next in this series is Caleb Love who is with Philadelphia on a two-way deal. After a successful collegiate career at North Carolina and Arizona, Love went undrafted and landed an opportunity with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2025-26. He played 49 games in Portland and averaged 10.4 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds as he showed his scoring
ability.
For Love, his three goals are as follows:
Meet JP Clark
Love will likely spend a lot of time with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League, which means it's important to meet Blue Coats coach JP Clark. Love is joining a Sixers team that has too many veterans and stars in front of him on the depth chart, which means minutes in Philadelphia will be hard to come by. Therefore, he should take advantage of the opportunities in Delaware, grow his game, continue to develop, and be ready when his name is called in the future. There will likely be a stretch where the Sixers will need somebody like Love to step in and produce to give them another option as a scorer and ball-handler.
Improve overall efficiency
Love was able to score at a nice level off the bench for Portland, but it wasn't the most efficient basketball. He only shot 38.8% from the floor and 31.8% from deep in his maiden NBA season. While he spends time in the G League, Love should focus on shot selection and continuing to find his groove and rhythm at this level. Once he finds what works for him in terms of his spots on the floor and finding a rhythm and understanding how to score at this level, then it will enhance his overall offensive game and build a case for him to earn real NBA minutes.
Take advantage of training camp
Training camp and the preseason will be important for somebody like Love. He needs to be take lessons from the likes of Tyrese Maxey, Anfernee Simons, LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, and others in order to understand what it takes to succeed in this league. Love has to be able to observe how those players established themselves in this league as legitimate stars and rotational players, which would then lead him to the spots they are in. It's hugely important for him to take advantage of being around those types of players in camp to take those steps forward.
