What is the story about?

Following the acquisition of Jaylen Brown, all signs point to recent free agent signee LeBron James playing the bulk of his minutes at power forward for the Philadelphia 76ers. James, who needs no introduction, is one of the greatest players in league history. Ranked No. 1 on the NBA's all-time scoring list, James has averaged 20 or more points per game in each of his 23 NBA seasons.

Ahead of the 2026-27 season, HoopsHype ranked the best power forwards in the league. Despite entering his age-42 season, James was ranked in the No. 5 position, behind Evan Mobley (Cavaliers), Scottie Barnes (Raptors), Jalen Johnson (Hawks) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Heat).

Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, James made his 22nd consecutive All-Star appearance,

averaging 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks in 60 games.

While centers have yet to be ranked, HoopsHype labeled Tyrese Maxey as the fifth-best point guard, VJ Edgecombe as the No. 8 ranked shooting guard and Jaylen Brown as the No. 3 ranked small forward.
