Philadelphia 76ers guard VJ Edgecombe is set to enter his second season in the league looking to continue to establish himself as a rising star in this league. The No. 3 pick of the 2025 draft was impressive as a rookie with averages of 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists along with coming up big in big moments countless times.
Edgecombe was fantastic throughout his maiden NBA season, and now will be able to learn from the likes of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in his second. The explosive guard out of Baylor might not be one of the top options anymore, but the Sixers could do much worse than having Edgecombe as their No. 5 option on this roster when considering the talent around him.
2006 NBA champion Jason Williams is impressed with Edgecombe
as he stated:
The best 5 option ever on earth. Maybe. Name one better? Edgecombe’s the 5th option, bro. Come on.
They then began thinking of previous No. 5 options and thought about the old Miami Heat teams and the old Golden State Warriors teams. Williams continued:
I’ll probably take Edgecombe over my man (Shane) Battier...I’m still going Edgecombe over DeMarcus Cousins, bro.
Jason Willams says V. J. Edgecombe is the best 5th option ever:

One has to wonder about Edgecombe's development when considering his bump down in the offensive hierarchy, but he can do so many different things on the floor that will impact winning and that allows him to be helpful for this group no matter what is going on. The Sixers will find a way to prioritize his development in certain moments to help him continue to grow.
