In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 16 players, per Spotrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 14 under standard contracts and the two players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2026-27 season.
The new season begins on Oct. 20, and training camp is right around the corner. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.
Up next in this series is big man Dominick Barlow who is entering his second season with the franchise. After beginning the 2025-26 season on a two-way deal, Barlow played well enough to earn himself a standard deal and started 59 of the 71 games he played. He averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds along with 1.2 assists per game.
For Barlow, his three
goals for the new season are as follows:
Come back with a reliable 3-point shot
Barlow has been in the gym all summer working on his shot and perfecting his craft as he looks to return with some semblance of a 3-point shot. He shot just 25.6% from deep on a career high 1.2 attempts per night in 2025-26 and both numbers will have to go up. When defenses collapse on the talent around him, he will be the one open to take 3-point looks within this offensive ecosystem. He will then need to step up, take them, and knock them down at a high rate in order to help floor spacing, and he knows it.
Crash the glass
As mentioned, Barlow averaged 4.8 rebounds per game. Obviously, rebounding can be a struggle area for the Sixers at times, but if Philadelphia can get somebody like Barlow to crash more often, then that changes things for the future. Philadelphia wants players to be able to attack the glass and create extra possessions. That's right up Barlow's alley and he should be able to thrive playing next to somebody like LeBron James who does a great job of finding teammates and rewarding them.
Run the floor
Speaking of James, when Barlow is on the floor next to him, he should definitely take advantage of the opportunities in front of him. When the Sixers get out and run, it offers the chance for easy buckets in transition due to James' playmaking ability. When the Sixers were able to run in the past, it was Tyrese Maxey being able to get up and down and take advantage of the athletes around him like Barlow. Throw in James and Jaylen Brown and this is a great opportunity for the big man to make an impact and score at a high clip.
