In case one has been living under a rock or hasn't been paying attention, the Philadelphia 76ers landed LeBron James in free agency. The future Hall of Famer joined the Sixers on a 2-year $8 million deal, the second year being a player option, and he will look to add to his already brilliant career.
James has a few connections in Philadelphia including star guard Tyrese Maxey. The two are represented by Klutch and they have worked out together in the past. They are both maniacal workers and will look to carry their chemistry built off the court to between the lines to help the Sixers end a lengthy title drought.
Maxey spoke with ClutchPoints and discussed the addition of James for Philadelphia:
"We haven't gotten on the court yet, so we'll see,”
Maxey told ClutchPoints. “But as far as the chemistry off the court, guys are communicating, guys are having a good time doing it, guys are really pumping each other up, and guys are also willing to sacrifice. It's just what they've said. So when we step on the court, we have to kind of embody all those things that we've been talking about.
“Sacrificing, coming together as one, and going out there competing every single night. Those are the three things that we really have to focus on. It's going to be one day at a time. One day at a time and one step at a time. There's going to be some good days, there's going to be some bad days, but at the end of the day we always want to be stepping in the right direction to come playoff time.”
Maxey is coming off a fantastic season in which he averaged 28.3 points and threw the Sixers on his back on a nightly basis. Now being flanked by James, and Jaylen Brown, he will look to help Philadelphia end some lengthy droughts. The Sixers have not been past Round 2 since the Allen Iverson days in 2001 and they have not won a title since 1983 when Julius Erving and Moses Malone were leading the way. This current iteration of the Sixers can get to where they want to go and move forward in the Eastern Conference.
