PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the New York Knicks on Monday to begin their 4-game preseason schedule. As one could expect, the Sixers will be without a number of key players as LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and others will all be sidelined.
Two names that stand out at the moment are Anfernee Simons and Dominick Barlow. The two rotation players did not play in the team's annual Blue X White scrimmage on Saturday and coach Nick Nurse gave an update on both of them before the preseason contest.
"They’ve both been kind of in and out of stuff here the last few days," Nurse said. "I think Barlow’s got a back and Simons has a little muscle tightness. So decided not to play them tonight, but should be any time now."
As
far as the other three preseason games are concerned, Nurse would like to see the regulars get some minutes in at least two of them as they move forward in the exhibition schedule. No need to send them out there after a long week of practice.
"Oh, just, final call was it’s kind of preseason, really," Nurse said of the decision to sit them. "So, I think just going to get some looks at some guys here early and try to find out the best we can over the four games and get everybody out there eventually."
The Sixers and Knicks will tip off at 7 p.m. EDT on Monday.
