INDIANAPOLIS -- The saga surrounding Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown and his departure from the Boston Celtics took another turn as Celtics broadcaster Brian Scalabrine reported that Brown had demanded a trade from the Celtics and that he had a list of demands of the team.
Brown's reps then came out and denied the allegations surrounding Brown's trade from the Celtics to the Sixers. Scalabrine then walk backed the report as he stated:
To be fair, after the 48 calls I attended today, he technically didn't demand to be traded…I don't know what the ultimatum was or the demands or whatever it was. So, technically, he did not demand to be traded. It was, 'Do these things right here or else.' And one of them might have been, 'Give me the $140 million
extension. I haven't gotten to the bottom of all that. I didn't even know this was going to be a thing. It's one of those things that lived in my mind for months. I finally used it because we were talking about the weirdest stuff, and now it's out there.
After scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 114-109 win over the Indiana Pacers on the road on Thursday, Brown responded to Scalabrine and the report that he put out.
"Yeah, I mean, I guess it is what it is," said Brown bluntly. "I saw that. I saw Scal. He made some comments. Never had any issues with Scal. I love Scal, but I guess he's doing what he has to do. I can understand why he feels the need to do that, but I have no interest of letting any false allegations following me to my next chapter here in Philadelphia."
As Brown continues to get everything down pat with the Sixers, he once again addressed the report as he completely denied ever asking for a trade from the Celtics and everything that Scalabrine had stated.
"Never," Brown finished. "I never demanded a trade. Never made a list of ultimatums. None of the sort. None of that is true, but as of now, I'm gonna just stay focused on what's in front of me here in Philadelphia. I got a tremendous opportunity, and I'm looking forward to that. So, I'm gonna just leave the questions for another time, but during the season, I'm gonna just focus on what's in front of me."
At this point, it's been nothing but a war of words between Brown and anybody who has anything to do with the Celtics. The two teams will see each other on Nov. 10 for a matchup at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
