INDIANAPOLIS -- As the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, they are still dealing with injuries to their backup big men as they move forward. They will have Joel Embiid back after he missed Sunday's loss to the Detroit Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back, but the Sixers are still hoping to get some of their depth on the frontline back sooner rather than later.
The Sixers are missing the likes of Tacko Fall, Jabari Walker, and Dominick Barlow as they move forward. Fall has been dealing with a left quadriceps strain while Walker has been out due to left knee soreness. Barlow is still dealing with lower back issues and will miss some more time.
As far as Fall and Walker are concerned, coach Nick Nurse gave
a quick update on the two of them.
"I don’t know if there’s an update yet, but both of them are doing some things," Nurse said before the matchup with the Pacers. "I think moving around a little bit more. Tacko’s participating (in practice), so I don’t think he’s far away, Jabari, I mean he’s on the court doing his shooting and stuff but didn’t participate in the practice part of it. But again, I think it’s not anything that should take terribly long, so probably get an update soon on those guys."
The Sixers are in need of both Fall and Walker getting back sooner rather than later. They are a bit thin on the frontline at the moment with the only backup option to Embiid being third-year man Adem Bona. Nurse needs another option to turn to as Philadelphia moves forward.
