PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers will conclude the preseason on Friday when they host the Boston Celtics. The Sixers will look to get their main players through the final exhibition game and keep things moving forward in preparation for the New York Knicks on opening night on Tuesday.
The Sixers will once again be without big man Adem Bona who is continuing to recover from a foot sprain. The bouncy and energetic 3-year man from UCLA will be looking to get back on the floor as quickly as possible as he has returned to practice for Philadelphia.
"He has moved pretty well," said coach Nick Nurse pregame on Friday. "He tends to do that when he’s got some time off. He looks extra bouncy when he’s got some time off. So I think that’s showed up,
as well. But I think, again, it’s not completely pain-free yet. Getting closer. I think we’re just making sure."
Bona's teammates certainly notice his presence. He is a guy who plays with so much energy and is eager to display his athleticism while out on the floor. Fellow big man Jabari Walker is happy to have him back and the Sixers will benefit greatly from his presence when he does return for the second unit.
"I think his motor just never changes," Walker said of Bona. "That’s one thing he can hang his hat on. He’s looked athletic. I couldn't tell anything was up with him. I think he just has to continue to take it day by day, see how his body feels. He wants to be out there so bad. So whenever he’s ready, he’ll be right back to where he left off."
