The Philadelphia 76ers figure to be one of the better teams heading into the 2026-27 season after an offseason in which they added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to an already talented core. The Sixers will feature one of the better starting lineups in the league along with what should be a strong bench unit as they chase a title ad the mountaintop.
With James and Brown joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe, one has to believe Philadelphia will be one of the better starting lineups in the league. Then throw in the additions of Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Labaron Philon Jr., and Ariel Hukporti to the bench unit and Philadelphia has its eyes on a title.
Yahoo! Sports put together power rankings for the 2026-27
season with Philadelphia ranking No. 4:
Could it all be too good to be true? LeBron is about to turn 42, Jaylen wasn't even satisfied being the 1B in Boston, and Embiid gets hurt every single year. There are only so many shots to go around, so as nice as sharing sounds in the summer, it may not sound as nice during a skid midway through the year. But most of all, I'm concerned about Embiid. If he can't stay on the floor, and if the Sixers can't get stops without him, who's gonna get blamed? Obviously Embiid. And who would a new Sixers front office try to trade to fix it? Obviously Embiid. It makes logical sense if that's the way things go, but that would suck.
Embiid is a player who is not being talked about enough when projecting Philadelphia's season. The Sixers have new additions in James and Brown, but the big fella is still here and this is his team at the end of the day. If Embiid is healthy, then Philadelphia will be in a great position to get the job done in the playoffs. The Sixers will just need a healthy big fella when the time calls for it.
