Philadelphia 76ers center Adem Bona was diagnosed with a left foot sprain Thursday afternoon. While it was reported that Bona would be re-evaluated at training camp, more information about Bona's injury was revealed by 76ers insider Tony Jones.
According to Jones, Bona suffered the injury with Turkey during the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. However, the ailment isn't expected to be serious, with Bona likely to return to the court within the first two weeks of camp. This is great news for the 76ers, who are a bit thin in the frontcourt in comparison to other positions in the rotation.
Bona, who is entering his third NBA season, is expected to compete for a role as Philadelphia's backup center behind Joel Embiid. Recent free agent signing Ariel
Hukporti will also be competing for this position after coming over from the New York Knicks. In 129 games throughout his career, Bona holds averages of 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game.
