CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Philadelphia 76ers made the decision after the preseason to convert big man Tacko Fall to a two-way deal after he was with the team on an Exhibit 10 deal throughout the preseason. Fall has 37 career NBA games under his belt with career averages of 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Fall has not played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season and he is thankful for the opportunity he is now getting with the Sixers, despite missing the preseason due to a hip injury. He began individualized on-court workouts on Sunday.
"I was a little speechless, to be honest," Fall laughed. "Like I said, I've had quite a few challenges since I left, and when you get that, after all these years and after all the hard
work, I think it means a lot more, for sure."
After going undrafted out of UCF, Fall has had a tough time finding his footing in the league, and is now looking forward to helping a Sixers team that is a bit thin at backup center following the season-ending injury to Ariel Hukporti. After four seasons out of the NBA, Fall is just looking to help Philadelphia in any way possible.
"I'm excited to be back," he explained. "I feel like this is a great opportunity, and with the things that I can do, I believe that I can really help this team. And for me, whatever they need me to go out there and do, I'm going to do, come in with great energy and just do what I can do to help."
Fall joins a Sixers team that features a former Celtics teammate of his in the form of Jaylen Brown. Having the 5-time All-Star around is something that excites Fall as he gets set to take advantage of his opportunity in Philadelphia.
"Jaylen's my brother," Fall smiled when asked about Brown. "We've built a great relationship throughout the years, even while I was away. His family is my second daughter's godfather. So we've had throughout the years such a great relationship. Iām very happy that we get to play together again."
