PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers are looking brand new after the additions of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to join Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid to get the job done in the East. The Sixers are looking to end lengthy playoff droughts and are hoping the new additions can help them get over the hump.
However, a big part of any success they have will be second-year guard VJ Edgecombe.
Edgecombe is coming off an impressive rookie season where he produced both on the floor and in the locker room with his voice, his poise, and his ability to do nearly everything on the floor. As he gets set for year 2, he has caught the eyes of the team's stars, including James.
"He's just not quiet, and I say that in a good way," James said. "There's things that happen
on the floor, things that he sees, things that we see, Even at his young age, it definitely feels like he's much older. It feels like he's definitely not in year two, and that's great to have. We have a lot of guys that have been around the block and a lot of guys who want to get better every day and hold each other accountable and that's great to see."
While James is getting his first real look at Edgecombe, this will be the second season that Embiid will be around him. He already had a lot of praise for the No. 3 pick of the 2025 draft after his maiden season, but the big fella has been happy with what he's seen now after a week of camp.
"VJ has been great, obviously," said Embiid. "He’s around a lot of great players, great people to learn from. He’s been great. He’s doing a great job leading, whether it’s by example, his voice. So he’s been amazing."

The Sixers will be looking to Edgecombe to continue growing and developing his game. He is only entering his second season, but it's obvious he will play a big role for Philadelphia in anything the team wants to do.
