When debating who the GOAT is in the NBA, everybody has their preference. There are so many great players who have picked up a basketball and made such a great impact on the game and etched their name in the history of the league on an every night basis.
Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James is certainly one of those players. As he gets set to enter an unprecedented 24th season, he has accomplished everything a player could possibly do in his career. He has four championships, four MVP awards, four finals MVP awards, he's been named an All-Star 22 times, he has the most points by any player in NBA history, and many more accolades.
However, there are many who say Michael Jordan is the GOAT and they would have a strong argument when considering his
six championships, 10 scoring titles, five MVP awards, six finals MVP awards, 14 All-Star appearances, and many more. So, there is no real wrong answer.
HoopsHype polled players both active and retired over the last four years to ask who their GOAT is and James received 43.8% of the votes while Jordan was right behind him at 41.1% of the votes. The late great Kobe Bryant was third in the voting with 4.5% of the GOAT votes.
Not too shockingly, the research data showed that the younger generation voted the most for James while the older generation voted mostly for Jordan. It does come down to who a certain player watched the most and grew up in a certain era to really give their opinion who the GOAT is in their eyes. Either way, both players are phenomenal and certified legends in the NBA.
