The Philadelphia 76ers began the offseason with a big move by acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics in a move that sent Paul George, two second-round picks, and two first-round picks to Boston. That acquisition then set up an even bigger move with the addition of LeBron James in free agency.
The Sixers will be looking to move forward with James as a huge part of Philadelphia's plans. The future Hall of Famer is still one of the better players in the league despite entering year No. 24. He averaged 20.9 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025-26 season and will bring that elite play to the City of Brotherly Love.

If you ever questioned the motivations of LeBron, he chose the hardest path, I think. Now you say best chance to win. He goes back to Cleveland. He’s made man. He chose the only reason. It’s to win. It wasn’t because I played there before. Or I grew up there. I want to play with my friend. It was because I want to win. So, I’m going to go where I want to go. It gives me the best chance to win. Does that make sense?
Now, Carter and McGrady pushed back on Myers' notion as it does appear James is joining the most talented bunch. However, Myers further explained his reasoning for why he said this is the hardest path for him:
What I was saying is, would it have been easier to go to play in Miami or Cleveland?...That's my point. The expectations are going to be different now. He welcomed that by making the decision that he made. So, when I say 'hard', that's what I'm trying to say.

James led the Lakers to a Round 1 win over the Houston Rockets before coming up short to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Round 2 in his final season with the Lakers. He was able to lead LA despite not having Luka Doncic for the playoffs and a hobbled Austin Reaves. He now joins Philadelphia with the idea that he will push them over the top.
