We are starting to get more information about the health of Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore after the scary injury he suffered on Saturday night in a game against the USC Trojans, and fortunately, the developments appear to be positive.
After being taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance with what appeared to be a head injury, Moore underwent MRIs and CT scans. According to head coach Dan Lanning, those scans came back clean, and Moore did not suffer any additional injuries aside from a concussion.
Lanning released a statement on the matter Sunday evening:
"Dante sustained a concussion in last night's game, but fortunately his MRI and CT scans came back clean, and he did not suffer any additional injuries," Lanning said in a statement.
"Every concussion is different and we are going to move forward with an abundance of caution to ensure we make the best decisions for Dante and his future. We are extremely appreciative of our entire medical staff and the medical staffs at USC and LA General County Hospital for their quick and thorough action in making sure Dante received the very best care possible.”
With Moore sidelined on Saturday night, backup quarterback Dylan Raiola stepped in and led the Ducks to victory, throwing for 289 yards and two touchdowns in relief.
Oregon enters a bye week before hosting the UCLA Bruins in Week 6. There is not yet an indication of whether or not Moore will be able to play in that game, or when his eventual return to the field will be, but we will monitor the situation going forward.
