Oregon Ducks fans were shocked by the lack of preparation and sloppy play earlier this season in an upset loss at Oklahoma State. Dan Lanning and the Ducks took a hard look in the mirror and appeared to be turning a corner after a win on the road at USC.
But without star quarterback Dante Moore, even with a bye week to prep Dylan Raiola, the Ducks fell flat once again when UCLA rolled into Autzen Stadium and secured a 17-15 win over Oregon. Both offenses committed several turnovers (Oregon lost five), while the defenses made timely stops to keep the game low-scoring. Oregon's offense sputtered throughout, leading to Brock Thomas taking over at quarterback in the fourth quarter, and nearly abandoning the pass at times.
The Autzen crowd booed at
different times, voicing their frustration to the Ducks about their inability to move the football down the field consistently. While Oregon's defense gave the Ducks a chance to win the game at the end, the offense just wasn't good enough to pull off the comeback.
The Ducks no longer control their own destiny to make it to the College Football Playoff, and a season that began with championship hopes is spiraling quickly.
