The Oregon Ducks might push to flip five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs from Ohio State late in the 2027 recruiting cycle, but the Ducks are already making a strong impression on his younger brother in the following class.
2028 4-star defensive lineman Dawson Jacobs has visited Oregon this offseason, and the Ducks are a standout early in the process for the Georgia native. In addition to the Ducks, Jacobs has visited Tennessee, Texas A&M and Ohio State during the offseason, but several other top programs are in hot pursuit.
Despite his brother being committed to the Buckeyes, Jacobs won't let his connection to Columbus influence his decision. Jacobs had a front-row seat to his brother's recruitment, so he knows what to expect. However, Jacobs told
Rivals (subscription required) that his brother doesn't want him to feel pressured to join him at Ohio State, rather leaving his brother to make his own call.

That certainly opens the door for the Ducks. Oregon is among the most consistent forces early in his recruitment, alongside Oklahoma and Miami. The Ducks have made a point to establish a relationship early on with Jacobs, and that has not gone unnoticed. While Oregon has stacked the defensive line with talent in recent years, it's a position that often sees depth leave through the transfer portal, making the recruiting game even more important.
Jacobs has had an excellent start to his high school career at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia. In two seasons, Jacobs has racked up 149 tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He is the No. 15 defensive lineman in the class, according to 247 Sports, but that ranking could be on the rise if he has an impressive junior season.
