For another week, Oregon Ducks fans can believe. The season is not yet over, and a path forward, through the regular season and into the College Football Playoff, remains possible.
Dan Lanning's team escaped with a comeback 17-14 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers late on Saturday night, long after much of the college football world went to bed. Despite the victory, Oregon stayed put in the US LBM Coaches Poll at No. 25, right where they were a week ago.
After three quarters of abysmal football, Oregon made a change at the quarterback position, benching Brock Thomas and putting Dylan Raiola in against his former team, and the offense responded, going on a pair of scoring drives, capped off by a go-ahead touchdown to Jamari Johnson with 28 seconds
left.
Now, the Ducks enter Week 8 with a 4-2 record and a chance to run the table, assuming that they can get the quarterback position figured out. Going forward, Oregon faces the Illinois Fighting Illini on the road this week, followed by matchups against the No. 23 Northwestern Wildcats and No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, who will likely be playing without starting quarterback Julian Sayin.
