This was expected, and it could have been worse.
The Oregon Ducks football team took a big drop in the latest US LBM Coaches poll as they dropped 12 spots from No. 6 to No. 18.
But the Ducks could consider themselves lucky they are even ranked at all. In just two weeks, Oregon went from a possible national championship contender at No. 2 to just trying to salvage the season and take a long climb back to the top.
While a loss at Oklahoma State was completely unexpected, some cracks were exposed by Boise State and then the Cowboys ran through those cracks to victory.
Texas is the new No. 1 team in the country after its big 24-23 win over Ohio State, the previous top team. The Buckeyes dropped to No. 6.
USC, Oregon's opponent in just two weeks, jumped
up three spots to No. 11 after the Trojans improved to 3-0 with a 49-30 win over Louisiana.
Right behind the Ducks in the polls is No. 19 Michigan, who rebounded nicely after the controversial win over Western Michigan. The Wolverines won 17-10 over Oklahoma.
Washington is the last Big Ten team to appear in the poll, but the Huskies dropped five places despite a 16-14 win over Utah State.
